Alliance
Francaise de Mangalore has shouldered the responsibility of
commemorating the eventful occasion of 100 years of Indian Cinema in a
gala film festival that will take place on April 21 in Mangalore.
The film
festival will not only concentrate the advent of cinema 100 years ago
but also encourage the 80 years of Kannada movies, 60 years of Konkani
films and 40 years of Tulu cinema in the event. The event will be held
at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on April 21where the first
ever movie made in the motherland, Raja Harishchandra, will be
immortalized.
Several
films would be showcased on the day including Byaari, Oriyordori Asal,
Shaale, Ksheeranjali apart from a few other short films. A few award
winning movies like Jo Jo Laali, Janleva 555, and Woh 5 Din will also
find their space on the screen.
A tribute
will be paid to Yash Chopra, via a musical 'Yash Raj Heroines De
Jayenge'. Since the films festival is being hosted by Alliance
Francaise, Joueuse, a French movie, will also be screened on the
occasion. The event is reportedly going to be a star studded night but
the final names are yet to be released.
