Indian Cinema Golden Jubilee at Mangalore film festival

Alliance Francaise de Mangalore has shouldered the responsibility of commemorating the eventful occasion of 100 years of Indian Cinema in a gala film festival that will take place on April 21 in Mangalore.

The film festival will not only concentrate the advent of cinema 100 years ago but also encourage the 80 years of Kannada movies, 60 years of Konkani films and 40 years of Tulu cinema in the event. The event will be held at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on April 21where the first ever movie made in the motherland, Raja Harishchandra, will be immortalized.

Several films would be showcased on the day including Byaari, Oriyordori Asal, Shaale, Ksheeranjali apart from a few other short films. A few award winning movies like Jo Jo Laali, Janleva 555, and Woh 5 Din will also find their space on the screen.

A tribute will be paid to Yash Chopra, via a musical 'Yash Raj Heroines De Jayenge'.  Since the films festival is being hosted by Alliance Francaise, Joueuse, a French movie, will also be screened on the occasion. The event is reportedly going to be a star studded night but the final names are yet to be released.
